This week has been a big one for gaming-related reveals with the announcements of Nintendo Direct and State of Play. As the upcoming Tokyo Game Show (TGS) takes off today, we can expect even more to come. However, just before the event, the mastermind behind the popular Death Stranding game, Hideo Kojima, left fans puzzled as he teased a new game.
In the teaser, Hideo Kojima announced that he would be revealing a new VR game that he’s been working on at the TGS event. As part of the tease, Hideo Kojima tweeted photos of himself enjoying a game on the Oculus Quest 2.
While we couldn’t see anything related to the new game, Hideo Kojima promised fans that Kojima Productions will share more details regarding the new game they’ve been working on.
So far, the developers have managed to keep any information about the game secret. So secret that this is the first time we hear about the studio even creating a title within the VR space. Not to mention there’s nothing about what type of game it will be.
At the Summer Game Fest earlier this year, the Death Stranding creator revealed that he was teaming up with Xbox to develop a new game. He also stated that this game was something completely new, something that he’s always wanted to make and something that hasn’t been seen before.
Quite bold statements! However, even though we know that Kojima Productions will be unveiling their new VR game, there is no confirmation that this is the game developed in partnership with Xbox.
With both Xbox and Kojima Productions scheduled to show off projects at TGS, this VR game could easily be part of either’s slate. We’ll keep our ears open this weekend for the reveal and look forward to learning more about this VR game. For now, it seems like a Death Stranding sequel is also in the works.
